Located on the Place du Petit Sablon, the Egmont Palace has almost five centuries of history. Its construction dates back to the 16th century for Françoise de Luxembourg and Count Lamoral of Egmont; in 1752 Leopold of Arenberg became the owner and had the central wing rebuilt to plans by Servandoni (1753).
The Belgian state bought the palace in 1964 and renovated it from 1966 to 1971. Listed since 1992, it is used today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for receptions, international conferences and the welcome of heads of state and government.
